Lifts to the grounds will be arranged closer to the match. Lets all up our game to make sure we keep our winning streak going by putting our all into training over the next two weeks. ABOUT THE CLUB
Green Isle Camogie Club is the only south London based camogie team. We are proud to be beginning the 2013 season as Junior Championship Finalist and reigning Tara 7s Junior Champions & Junior League Champions 2012.
We’re a very friendly, sociable bunch who all happen to enjoy a spot of camogie. Green Isle are always looking for new player. Anyone from absolute beginners up to experienced players are welcome. And some supporters on the sidelines are always welcome too.
If you are not familiar with camogie here’s a quick out line. Camogie is a Irish stick-and-ball team sport played by women. It is almost identical to the game of hurling played by men. The basic object of the game is score more points or goals than the opposing team. There are H shaped goal posts at each end of the field (similar to rugby but with a net under the crossbar). A point is scored by sending the sliotar (ball, pronounced “slitter”) between the oppositions goal posts above the cross bar. If the ball goes below the crossbar, a goal, worth three points, is scored.
GO ON, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO
We are always ready to welcome new players. What better time to start getting fist, have fun, play a few games and make some friends?
